LK Samyang adds AF 35mm F1.8 P FE lens to lineup
LK Samyang has announced the AF 35mm F1.8 P FE, expanding its Prima Series of compact prime lenses aimed at everyday photography and hybrid content creation.
The new lens follows earlier Prima Series releases, including the AF 35mm F1.4 P FE in 2024, and the AF 16mm F2.8 P FE and AF 85mm F1.8 P FE in 2025. The range focuses on portability and practical performance for both stills and video.
The AF 35mm F1.8 P FE is built around a compact design, measuring 69.8mm in diameter and using a 62mm filter thread. It is intended to pair with lightweight full-frame cameras such as models in the Sony α7C series and Sony ZV-E series.
A 35mm focal length provides a standard field of view suited to a range of uses, including street photography, travel, portraiture and video work. The F1.8 aperture is designed to offer low-light capability and shallow depth of field, with a nine-blade diaphragm aimed at producing smooth background blur.
Optically, the lens features a construction of 10 elements in eight groups, including two aspherical elements and two XHR (Extra High Refractive) elements. According to the company, the XHR elements allow for a more compact design while reducing optical aberrations.
The lens also incorporates UMC II coating, which is intended to reduce flare and ghosting and improve contrast in challenging lighting conditions.
Autofocus is driven by LK Samyang’s Linear STM II motor, designed to provide faster and quieter performance for both stills and video. Additional features include weather sealing for outdoor use and a USB-C port for direct firmware updates without the need for a separate docking station.
In a statement, the company said the Prima Series is intended to offer lenses that users can rely on for everyday shooting, with a balance of size, performance and usability.
The AF 35mm F1.8 P FE is scheduled to go on sale from late March 2026, with availability rolling out across global markets through authorised retailers.
