Lexar's new Diamond CFexpress cards read at 1900mb/s
Lexar has announced its Diamond CFexpress Type B cards, which should be the fastest CFexpress Type B cards on the market once they start shipping later this year.
Longys, which owns the Lexar brand, says the new Diamond Series cards offer read speeds up to 1,900MB/s and write speeds up to 1,700MB/s. The cards are VPG 400 certified, which guarantees a minimum sustained write speed of 400MB/s, which should make them a solid option for RAW 8K, 6K and 4K video.
The cards are designed to be shock and vibration-proof, as well as resistant to extreme temperatures. Their working temperature range is -10°C to 70°C.
Lexar also announced a new set of 'Gold Series' CFexpress Type A cards. These will offer slower read and write speeds of 900MB/s and 700MB/s, respectively, but are also rated for VPG 400 performance.
Both the Diamond Series CFexpress Type B and Gold Series CFexpress Type A cards are currently under development, but Longsys says they should be available in the second half of this year in the US. No local pricing has been confirmed yet.
In Australia, Lexar is distributed by UCC Australia.
