Lens manufacturer Laowa has announced the Laowa 8-15mm f/2.8 is a full-frame zoom fisheye lens, which comes with a nifty trick - it offers both circular and diagonal fisheye perspectives in one compact design.

At 8mm, the lens captures a 180° circular image; at 15mm, it delivers a full-frame fisheye look with characteristic distortion. According to Laowa, this versatility allows users to switch styles without changing lenses.

The constant f/2.8 aperture provides consistent exposure and performs well in low-light conditions, while the 16cm minimum focusing distance enables close-up shots with pronounced perspective effects.

Designed for full-frame sensors, it makes full use of image area across the zoom range, with edge-to-edge coverage and optical clarity.

Laowa says the lens is well-suited for creative applications including landscapes, astrophotography, urban scenes, and 360° content.

The Laowa 8-15mm f/2.8 is built with 13 elements in 9 groups and a nine-blade aperture diaphragm. At just 94.5mm long, it's relatively compact, and it weighs approximately 650g.

The Laowa 8-15mm f/2.8 is available in E, Z, L and RF mount versions, and will set you back $699 USD ($1,071 AUD).
