Fujifilm announces instax mini Evo 2 hybrid instant camera

Fujifilm has announced the instax mini Evo 2, an updated version of its hybrid instant camera, with a touchscreen, new framing tools and a feature that captures the four seconds leading up to a photograph.

The Evo 2 combines digital image capture with instant film printing, allowing users to preview and adjust images before deciding which ones to print. The new 4.5-inch LCD touchscreen replaces the more traditional viewing approach with touch-based composition and settings controls.

A new Expanded View feature displays a wider view of the scene than the camera's shooting area, helping users plan their composition.

Meanwhile, the Immersive Movie feature records the four seconds before each photograph is taken, preserving a short sequence of movement and activity around the moment of capture. A microSD card, sold separately, is required to use this feature.

The camera retains the Evo series' combination of 10 lens effects and 10 film effects, offering 100 possible combinations. Users can also adjust exposure, white balance and flash settings, with macro mode available for close-up photography.

Fujifilm's Rich and Natural modes provide a choice between more vivid colours and a more restrained look.

The updated smartphone app adds support for transferring photos and video clips, viewing a print history and printing images from a phone. The camera can also be controlled remotely through the app.

Image resolution has increased to 13 megapixels, more than double that of the original mini Evo, although a microSD card is required to access the maximum resolution. Images can be printed on Fujifilm's instax mini film, which produces prints measuring 62 × 46mm.

The camera uses USB-C charging and includes a built-in selfie mirror.

The instax mini Evo 2 is scheduled to go on sale from 27 November 2026. Fujifilm has announced US pricing of US$289.95, but Australian pricing and local availability have yet to be confirmed.
