DJI announces Mini 4 Pro

Comments Comments

DJI has announced another new drone, the DJI Mini 4 Pro, which it's calling its “ultimate mini camera drone.”

The new foldable sub-250g drone is the first in the Mini series with omnidirectional obstacle detection and avoidance, and also Waypoints, which allows users to pre-plan flights and repeat them.

On that ultimate mini camera drone thing, the Mini 4 Pro has a 48MP Type 1/1.3 CMOS sensor with dual native ISO, a 24mm (equiv.) lens, and a fixed F1.7 aperture.

The camera is also capable of cropping in up to 2X for photos and up to 4X when capturing video, and can produce genuine vertical images.

A new feature is Cruise Control, which gives the ability to automatically operate at a consistent speed and avoid potential flight fatigue while recording footage.

DJI has equipped the Mini 4 Pro with its OcuSync 4 (O4) transmission system, giving it a range of up to 20km, with footage able to be transmitted back to the controller at 1080p/60p. Video specs max out at 4K/100, although there's also 4K/60 and 10-bit D Log M.

Flight times are impressive, with 34 minutes with a standard Intelligent Flight battery and up to 45 minutes with the Intelligent Flight Plus battery, although using that will increase the drone's takeoff weight above 250g, removing some of the benefits of flying below that threshold.

Other features include ActiveTrack 360, Hyperlapse, Panorama and AI-powered Return-to-home modes.

The Mini 4 Pro with DJI RC-N2 Remote Controller and one Intelligent Flight battery starts at $1,219, or with the RC 2 Remote Controller for $1,499.

The DJI Mini 4 Pro Fly More Combo, which includes the RC 2, three Intelligent Flight batteries, a two-way charging hub, and a carrying bag costs $1,849 while the Fly More Combo Plus, with Intelligent Flight Plus batteries is $1,939.
