Canon announces RF 24mm f/1.8 and 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 lenses

Canon has announced two new entry-level full frame RF lenses, the RF 24mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM and RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM.

The RF 24mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM is a fast, bright, image stabilised lens with a circular, 9-blade design.  Inside, it's made up of 11 elements in nine groups, including one ultra-low dispersion element and one aspherical element. The lens has a 52mm front filter thread and a minimum focusing distance of 14cm.

The RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM has a 5.5-stop Optical Image Stabiliser, and weighs just 390g. The lens is constructed of 13 elements in 11 groups, and features a 67mm front filter thread, a seven-blade aperture diaphragm, and it has a minimum focusing distance of 28cm when using AF, and 13cm when using manual focus at 15mm. 

Prices are to be set at dealer discretion, although Canon have indicated an RRP of $1,049.00 for the RF 24mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM and RRP of $969.00 for the RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM.

The lenses will be available in Australia in August 2022, and will be supported by Canon Australia’s 5-year warranty.
