7Artisans announces budget 35mm F1.8

7Artisans has rolled out the AF 35mm F1.8, a wide-angle full-frame prime made for Sony E mount cameras.

The new glass further expands 7Artisans' growing lineup of autofocus lenses, and at just $299 USD ($455 AUD) it’s reasonably priced and available now.

The lens has a solid all-metal build, weighing in at 426g, and it measures 94mm long. It takes 62mm filters and uses a stepper motor for autofocus.

Inside, the optical design packs 11 elements in 8 groups, including two aspherical pieces, two high-refractive ones, and an ED element. You also get an 11-blade aperture and a minimum focusing distance of 0.4m.

On the features, there’s a clickless aperture ring, an auto/manual focus switch, and a customisable function button. A USB-C port on the bottom handles firmware updates too.
