The new lens isn't entirely new, and in fact it's simply the same lens the company released for Sony E-mount in 2021 with a new mount for Nikon's Z-mount mirrorless system.

That said, there is one first, with Tamron saying it is the first zoom lens for Nikon's Z-mount to have a maximum aperture of F2.

Like the E-Mount version, it's moisture resistant and uses Tamron's VXD linear motor for quick autofocus.

In addition, it's set to offer a Fluorine Coating and a Hood Locking Mechanism. Like the E-Mount version, you can expect a minimum focusing distance of 33cm at the wide end and 85cm at the long end.

Unfortunately that's about all we've got to go on at this point, with the lens scheduled for release in the spring of 2023 and pricing yet to be confirmed.

You can find out more here in the meantime.
