Max Rittner, Austracantha (April theme: Detail)

As per the title, this is an Austracantha minax, which is a species of spider also known as jewel or the Christmas spider. There were several around the camping site I had alongside Sloop Lagoon in North East Tasmania. Traveling on a photographic safari, I grabbed the macro lens, camera and tripod and went to work to grab a few shots. The natural light was perfect, with light cloud providing a giant soft-box and the wind had dropped off compared to the previous day. I think you could all agree that this has helped provide a crisp detailed image.
