It's too often lost these days, but if you want to see real workmanship from a seemingly bygone era, watch this new video by the ridiculously talented Dieter Schneider, as he builds himself a large format camera from scratch.

As shared over at DIY Photography, this isn’t just bolting a collection of components together. Other than the lens and a few hinges, every piece on Schneider's camera is handmade. Right down to the perfectly hand ground glass.

Whether you want to build your own camera or not, it’s a fascinating video to watch. The attention to detail is simply mesmerising.
