Tamron has revealed details of two new lenses slated for release in early January 2013, a 70-200mm f2.8 zoom and a fixed focal length 90mm f2.8 macro lens. Both lenses feature image stabilisation (VC stands for vibration correction) and Tamron's built-in Ultrasonic Silent Drive (USD) for fast and quiet auto focussing.

The SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Di VC USD uses one extra low dispersion (XLD) element and four low dispersion (LD) elements to minimise chromatic aberrations, and a multi-layer coating to reduce flare and ghosting for crisper, clearer images. It weighs 1470g and extends from 188.3 to 196.7mm.

The SP 90mm F/2.8 Di MACRO 1:1 VC USD is capable of life-size, 1:1 macro magnification. It uses two extra low dispersion (XLD) elements, one low dispersion (LD) element and Tamron's new eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) lens coating. It weighs 550g and is 114.5mm long.

Both lenses will be released in Canon mounts in early January 2013 with Nikon and Sony compatible versions to follow soon after. The 70-200mm lens will retail for $1699 while the 90mm macro will go for $999.
