Photo sharing site Flickr has announced it's list of the most popular camera brands among it's users in 2014, with strong results for Canon and Apple.
In the Top 5 Camera Brands list, Canon maintained its title as the number one brand for the second year in a row while Apple moved into second spot, relegating Nikon to third. Samsung also moved up a spot in the rankings to fourth while Sony dropped one position to fifth.
Despite some jostling on the ladder, all of the top five brands posted increases over 2013 figures, with Samsung and Apple the biggest movers with increases of 2.2 and 1.9% respectively.

The most widely used mirrorless camera in 2014 was the Olympus E-M5, closely followed by the Sony A7, Sony NEX-6, Fujifilm X-E1 and Sony NEX-5N. Canon's EOS 600D was the most popular DSLR, followed by the Canon EOS 7D, Nikon D7000, Canon EOS 60D and Canon EOS 5D Mk III.

Given the ubiquity of cameraphones these days it shouldn't come as a great surprise to learn that smartphones swept the top 4 spots for all camera models, with the Canon EOS 600D the only 'conventional' camera to feature in the top 5.
