The Sydney-based Martin Browne Contemporary gallery has opened its latest exhibition, Instinctual, featuring photographs by Tamara Dean.

According to the gallery, Dean's Instinctual series explores the relationship between humans and the natural world and the role of instinct in our contemporary lives.

The sense of upper-world and underworld within these works is representative of consciousness and the subconscious.

The absence of clothing and natural setting is designed to symbolise a universal sense of humanity and our inherent animalism. An acknowledgment that we are indeed a part of nature.

The Instinctual exhibition runs from February 2 - 26 at the Martin Browne Contemporary gallery 15-21 Hampden Street Paddington - the official opening is Thursday, February 2 from 6-8pm. Gallery Hours: 10.30am - 6pm Tuesday to Sunday.
