Canon have announced four new lenses, including a new addition to sit alongside their legendary 85mm 1.2L portrait lens, with the announcement of the EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM.

The company also announced three new macro tilt shift lenses today - the TS-E 135mm f/4L Macro Tilt Shift, TS-E 90mm f/2.8 Macro Tilt Shift and the TS-E 50mm f/2.8L Macro Tilt Shift. All three lenses feature 9-blade circular apertures, a maximum magnification of 0.5x, and fluorine coating.

The Canon 85mm f/1.4L IS features a 9-blade circular aperture, Air Sphere Coating (ASC) for reducing flaring and ghosting, Fluorine coating for repelling dust/grease/water/dirt, 14 elements in 10 groups (with one aspherical lens), a minimum focusing distance of 85cm (~2.8ft), and in a nod to photographers shooting in low light, 4 stops of image stabilisation. We anticipate the IS being a key selling point for many wedding, studio and event photographers.

The new 85mm lens doesn't replace the 85mm 1.2L or the 85mm 1.8, as Canon have confirmed production of these two workhorses will continue.
