When we joked about Iceland as our next travel destination it was initially just that - a joke! We wanted to visit an unconventional destination, something a little more off-the-beaten track - and preferably not during the peak tourist season. A little more research into this far-flung country revealed a landscape so surreal it immediately appealed to our photographic senses. Now, after two trips in two years and eight weeks of self-driving tours, we rate Iceland at the top of our travel destinations...
