As part of the annual Head On Photo Festival which opens in Sydney on 12 May, organisers are offering Australian photographers the chance to join renowned American photojournalist Benjamin Lowy on a photographic tour of Sydney.

Based in New York, Lowy began his career covering the Iraq War in 2003. Since then he has covered major stories worldwide, including wars in Afghanistan and Darfur, the Libyan Uprising, the Haitian Earthquake and Hurricane Katrina.

Six three-hour sessions are planned for the weekend of 17-18 May with each limited to 10 people. Lowy will provide one-on-one mentoring and feedback over the course of the tour. A 'mystery location' in Sydney will be revealed on the day of the session.

Two daytime sessions will be held on Saturday 17 May (9am and 1pm) while a third daytime session will take place on Sunday 18 May at 5am. The daytime sessions will mainly focus on mobile phone photography. Lowy will also host three night sessions (using 'real' cameras) on Sunday 18 May (1am, 5pm and 9pm). Sessions cost $195 or $165 for members.
