Panasonic has announced the Lumix DMC-GF8, a revamped GF7 with the capacity to shoot selfies thanks to its built-in 'Self Shot Mode' and a 180-degree touch screen.

Like the camera it supersedes, the entry-level GF8 is built around a 16-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor and offers Full HD 1080/60p video and built-in Wi-Fi.

When the camera's LCD monitor is flipped up, Self Shot Mode is automatically triggered to allow selfies that would normally be out of arm’s reach.

The DMC-GF8 also has Creative Control filters and Beauty Modes with makeover features include teeth whitening teeth, skin smoothing and retouching makeup.

Panasonic says the camera features Light Speed Autofocus with high speed burst shooting at up to 40 fps using the electronic shutter.

It is available in pink, silver, brown or orange leather-like finish. At the time of writing pricing and launch date had not been announced

Available from March 2016, the LUMIX DMC-GF8 single lens kit will retail for $699.
