Nikon is set to release a new 50mm f/1.8 lens for use with its FX (full frame) and DX (APS-C) format digital SLRs.
The AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G comprises seven lens elements in six groups and is the first 50mm lens in the Nikon lineup to feature an aspherical lens element. It also features a built-in autofocus motor, allowing full autofocus operation when used with Nikon’s entry-level DX-format cameras such as the D5100 and D3100, which are not equipped with in-body AF.
The lens will retail for $299 and is expected to be available from June 2.
