Nikon has announced a new prime lens for its DX-sensor DSLRs.
The Nikkor 40mm f/2.8G Micro offers an equivalent focal length of 60mm and a maximum aperture of f/2.8.
It also offers macro capabilities (Nikon uses the term "Micro") with a minimum focussing distance of 0.163m allowing the capture of life-size macro images at true 1:1 magnification.
There are two focus modes – auto-focus with manual override (M/A) and conventional manual (M). The lens also features Nikon's Silent Wave Motor for quiet autofocus.
