Tokina has launched a new 11-16mm f/2.8 lens with versions available for Nikon and Canon DSLRs. The AT-X 116 PRO DX-II supersedes the AT-X 116 PRO DX, and introduces a new  internal focusing motor to allow the lens to autofocus on Nikon bodies that do not have an AF drive gear and motor.

As well as a bright constant f/2.8 aperture, the lens includes two super-low dispersion glass elements and two aspheric glass elements to improve contrast and sharpness, and control chromatic aberration.

The lens uses a one-touch focus clutch mechanism so users can switch between auto and manual focus by snapping the focus ring forward for auto focus and back toward the lens mount for manual focus.

Designed for use with APS-mount cameras, the lens has an equivalent formal length of 16.5-24mm on Nikon bodies, and 17.6-25.6mm on Canon bodies.

The lens retails for $849.
