Congratulations to Alla Kuyunzhi who has won our April 'Detail' photo competition with the image Eared Dandelion, as judged by our guest judge, photographer Drew Hopper.

Commenting on Alla's winning image, Drew said, 

The winning image 'Eared Dandelion' is a well-executed photograph showing detail in small form. I'm instantly taken back to my childhood explorations in my grandmother's garden with the magnifying glass. I love the way Alla has observed and captured the observer while keeping a close eye on the fine detail of the dandelion. Making this image black and white helps give it that timeless essence, a really subtle yet wise choice by the photographer.

Drew Hopper (b.1989) is a documentary photographer based in Coffs Harbour, Australia. His work explores ecological, social and cultural themes throughout Australia and worldwide.

Captivated by the diversity of environments, Drew ventures far and wide to capture pictures that define his experiences with the vision that they will impact and inspire an audience in a way individual to each viewer.

Drew is a regular contributor to Australian Geographic, covering assignments throughout Australia. He also regularly contributes to Australian Photography magazine writing articles and judges monthly contests and has work featured in numerous publications worldwide.
