Jaime Clarke, Saving A Rainbow (Junior 2017)

Australia is fortunate to have a large number of native bird species and all native birds are protected. The most commonly rescued native bird is the Rainbow Lorikeet. These photos depict a rescue of a Rainbow Lorikeet. It was seen on the ground flapping its wings, running and hopping. It was then rescued and secured in a cage where I looked after it for a couple of weeks until it developed the skill to fly from the ground.
