Your challenge in our November photo comp was to try your hand at shooting a cover for Australian Photography magazine.

The winner of the November 'Shoot a Magazine Cover' competition is Zubair Aslam, whose image 'Nightmares' was selected from a field of more than 750 entries.

This month's judge, Dylan Fox, was intrigued by Aslam's image and thought it would garner plenty of attention on a crowded newsstand.

"A magazine cover not only needs to work well with the additional masthead and text, but it needs to be able to grab attention on the newsstand," said Fox. "This image certainly does both. Apart from having a composition that has the required space needed for the editors, it is very compelling. It demands attention and then manages to keep the viewer intrigued as you discover new elements. I would certainly be interested to pick this magazine up and look inside to learn more about the cover image at the very least!"

'Nightmares' by Zubair Aslam has won the November 2015, 'Shoot a Magazine Cover' competition.

Fox also singled out Craig McGowan's colourful seascape 'Broken Moeraki' for attention. "A clean and simple composition will always work well on a magazine cover. This photograph ticks that box. Because the editors still need to add elements it would not be ideal to start with an already cluttered image. This photograph also has a beautiful colour palette going for it that will help it ‘pop’ on the newsstand as well as a suitable composition."

Runner up: 'Broken Moeraki' by Craig McGowan.

This month's People's Choice selection, with more than 250 Facebook likes, was Jarrod Hyde's spectacular golden-hour landscape 'Burning Bridges,' which he shot in Richmond, Tasmania.

Well done to our winners who have each won a Momento gift voucher to create a stylish coffee table book to match the quality of their photography. Winner Zubair Aslam has won a $250 voucher, while runner-up Craig McGowan and People's Choice winner Jarrod Hyde have each won a $150 voucher.
