The Mono Awards black and white photography competition opens for entries

Following our poor attempt to tease it with a cryptic Facebook post last week, we can now confirm it officially: Australian Photography has partnered with Capture to launch The Mono Awards, a black and white photography competition for photographers in Australia and New Zealand.

The Mono Awards is simple. It's a single-image photo competition of just two categories, People and Places, and it's open to all photographers.

Our winners and runners up will share in a prize pool of $10,000 including $5,500 cash, as well as prizes from our Major sponsors Momento and Momento Pro, and supporting sponsor Kudos Cameras.

Images will be judged by a star-studded panel of professional photographers, with the judges' announcement to be made in May. Winning images will be published online, as well as in the September issue of Australian Photography, and the September/October issue of Capture.

You can find out more about the awards, get tips on a great black and white entry, and read all the terms and conditions and category definitions at the dedicated monoawards website here.

The 2019 Mono Awards are open now until 30 June 2019.
