The companion app to Adobe’s Lightroom software is now available for the iPad, but is only available through Creative Cloud and Photoshop CC subscriptions. iPhone support is currently still 'in development', with Android compatibility slated for later this year.

The app features basic tools for the remote management and editing of a photographers work flow, online or off:

“With the launch of Lightroom mobile, we’ve unlocked professional-class photographic workflows from the confines of the desktop,” says Winston Hendrickson, Adobe Vice president.

“Lightroom and Photoshop redefined digital photography on the desktop and now, photographers can perfect images, wherever they are and, via Creative Cloud, seamlessly synchronise them back to their desktop catalog.”

Handling all file formats including RAW, the app creates mobile ‘Smart Previews’ of original images. Smart Previews are low-res versions of users’ originals, which allow the app to catalogue extensive, non-destructive changes and sync them back with Lightroom for desktop.

Users can also import and edit images from their iPad’s camera roll, and all images can be shared wirelessly on social media.

While the perpetual license version of Lightroom 5 doesn't include access to Lightroom for mobile, Adobe is currently offering a special subscription to the Photoshop CC and Lightroom bundle for A$9.99 per month on a full year plan, for a limited time.

The bundle includes latest versions of Photoshop CC and Lightroom for web, desktop and mobile.

Lightroom Mobile runs on iPad 2 or later with iOS 7 and requires Lightroom 5.4 for Windows or Mac OSX.
