Sony has added four new full-frame lenses and four converters to its Alpha E-mount lineup.

Sony has announced four new full-frame Alpha E-mount lenses for its growing lineup of mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, and four lens converters (two of them full-frame) for shooting ultra-wide and fisheye perspectives.

The Zeiss Distagon T* FE 35mm f/1.4 ZA full-frame wide-angle lens is a prime lens with a minimum focusing distance of 0.3m and the first E-mount to have a bright f/1.4 aperture. It shoots high quality images in low-light conditions with a smooth bokeh effect (the quality of the out-of-focus areas), and corner-to-corner sharpness even at maximum aperture.

The FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS full-frame mid-telephoto Macro G lens is for macros or still-life images. The E-mount line-up’s first mid-telephoto macro also has built-in Optical SteadyShot (OSS) image stabilisation, creating pin-sharp images at up to 1:1 magnification, even when shooting handheld.

The FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS full-frame zoom 10x lens covers a range from wide-angle to telephoto. A linear motor drives the focusing mechanism for a quick, smooth response throughout the zoom range and it also has built-in Optical SteadyShot (OSS) image stabilisation for handheld telephoto shots and low-light scenes at longer shutter speeds.

The FE 28mm f/2 full-frame wide-angle prime lens has a bright f/2 maximum aperture ideal for handheld shooting in low light. And, for even wider perspectives, the optional Sony ultra-wide converter and fisheye converter respectively widen the viewing angle to 21mm or 16mm fisheye with full 180 degrees coverage. The maximum aperture of each converter is f/2.8 and f/3.5 respectively, when mounted on the FE 28mm lens. Sony says both units generate corresponding EXIF data, a first for Alpha lens converters.

There are also two APS-C converters for ultra-wide and fisheye images. The ultra-wide adapter is compatible with the 16mm f/2.8 and 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle APS-C lenses. The fisheye converter offers a full 180 degree field-of-view for the 16mm lens, and 133 degrees for the 20mm lens.
