'Mike McCaw – f300: Scotland in Slow Motion' is touted as possibly the first photographic exhibition of direct positive pinhole images ever held in Australia.

This new exhibition features 21 unique pinhole landscape photographs shot in areas around Fife in Scotland and produced exclusively on Harman Direct Positive 8 x 10 silver gelatine photographic paper.

The exhibition is being held at Gold Street Studios in Trentham East, Victoria, where some of the most important alternative photography practitioners in the world have their works exhibited and represented. These photographers include Tim Rudman, Jerry Spagnoli, Karl Koenig, Bob Kersey, Mike Ware and Liam Lynch amongst others.

Ellie Young, founder of Gold Street Studios, commented, “There is a ‘mysterious beauty’ in pinhole photography that comes from long exposure times, indefinite depth of field and a softness creating a unique and special feel. Mike McCaw explored the coastal regions of Scotland using this simple form of photographic image making. There is no viewfinder, batteries, click or buzz, and no mega pixels, just raw beauty captured.

For Mike McCaw this exhibition is the result of two separate one-month residencies over a two-year period at the invitation of The Working Artists Studio Program of Scotland (WASPS).

The exhibition runs from December 3, 2015 to February 14, 2016 with official opening speeches on the 13th December by Doug Wright, painter and printmaker, former senior lecturer and head of painting, University of Ballarat.
