John Tsiavis is a commercial portrait photographer who began his career as a movie stills photographer. He has worked on some of Australia’s best known films including Head On, Ned Kelly, Chopper and, more recently Animal Kingdom. His image of Eric Bana as Chopper is one of his earliest and most memorable images.

His images have featured in many influential magazines including Time, Rolling Stone, The Good Weekend, Marie Claire, ID and Vogue Living.

Bringing together his love of film and photography, John recently collaborated with comedian Chris Lilley on the TV series Angry Boys.

With many high profile exhibitions to his name, John’s work has been collected here and abroad with The Australian National Portrait Gallery recently acquiring three of his works for its permanent collection.

He has been shortlisted for the National Portrait Prize and in 2011 is a finalist in the prestigious Olive Cotton Award for photographic portraiture.
