Microsoft Paint saved after mass public outcry

Well, that was a close one.

After it was announced earlier this week that Microsoft was ditching its beloved editing tool Microsoft Paint, the internet was thrown into a crisis alert.

Websites like Reddit and social media blew up at the idea of the 32 year old program being scrapped forcing Microsoft’s hand.

But in an 11th hour repreive, 3D Paint general manager Megan Saunders announced on the company’s blog that the program will instead be moved into the Windows store, available for free downloading.

“We’ve seen an incredible outpouring of support and nostalgia around MS Paint. If there’s anything we learned, it’s that after 32 years, MS Paint has a lot of fans. It’s been amazing to see so much love for our trusty old app.”

It won’t have any updates but it’ll be there for all your quick art editing and creative needs, so get painting!

Phew.
