  • Portrait Series Winner. Six Degrees of Copenhagen. Taking its inspiration that every person is connected by, at most, the sixth degree, this series of photos depicts human connections throughout the city of Copenhagen. Juul portrays seemingly random people that he engages with on the streets. These chance meetings end up with him taking highly personal photos of the people he has met. At the end, each of his subjects sends him to another person in their network. He goes on to capture them, who then in turn give him the name of one person more. Photo © Jens Juul.

  • Fine Art Single Image Winner. Palm Wine Collector, Kunene Region, Namibia. 2015. Himba people from this area have utilised Makalani Palms for generations, passing down the knowledge and technique needed to carry out the process of obtaining the liquid. Although the Makalani palm is a protected tree in Namibia and the tapping of palms a banned practice, the Ovahimba firmly believe that it is their right to continue. They argue against Western law, instead following ancient cultural traditions that respect these palms in their utilization and in turn promote their conservation on a cultural level.
