Western Digital Company is set to expand its family of external storage and backup solutions with the Touro S Mobile external hard drives.
Compatible with Mac and PC, the Touro S drive offers two levels of data protection — local backup and cloud storage — for transporting, storing and accessing data anywhere.
A thin aluminium enclosure houses a 7,200 RPM hard drive, moving user data 23 percent faster than standard 5,400 drives. In addition to 1TB or 500GB of local storage, 3GB of Touro Cloud backup is offered to Touro S customers free.
With Touro Cloud backup, users can access and share files from any web browser, tablet or smartphone. When using the cloud service, all content is stored in its natural format. This online storage option ensures that data is always protected and accessible in the cloud.
Users can share online content with others by sending a web link. Users can upgrade to 250GB for US$59 per year, which includes multiple machine protection. Those who upgrade receive the WD My Cloud iOS apps for free.
Local backup software automatically saves photos, music, videos, and documents from a computer directly to the drive. Once installed, backups run every 30 minutes. Flexible settings allow users fro schedule custom backups at their convenience.
