The winner of the February 'Leading Lines' competition is 'One Step at a Time' by Catherine Matthys.

More than 600 images were entered in the monthly australianphotography.com photo competition, with this month's guest judge travel and landscape photographer Drew Hopper selecting Matthys’ image from a shortlist of stand-out pictures.

“The use of the stairs and railings creating a diagonal line from bottom right to the top left with the subjects nicely portioned within the frame make this a strong composition,” said Hopper.

“The monochrome treatment and harsh contrast help simplify the scene and eliminate any distractions that colour may have presented. Overall a top image, not a 'straight' shot which makes it stand out from the other entries.”

This month's People's Choice winner, with more than 340 Facebook likes, was the haunting image, ‘Abandoned, Self Portrait' by Tiffany Garvie. Well done Tiffany.

Congratulations to our winners who have each won a Momento gift voucher to create a stylish coffee table book to match the quality of their photography. Catherine Matthys has won a $150 voucher, while People's Choice winner Tiffany Garvie has won a $100 voucher.

You can see the full selection of shortlisted images below and at our Facebook page. If you would like to get involved in the monthly australianphotography.com photo competition, it's free to enter and the theme for the February competition is Travel.
