Taking advantage of our current obsession with the selfie, iStabilizer has released an extendable monopod to help users move the camera further away from the subject and shoot more flattering self portraits.
The monopod weighs 200g, collapses to 30cm and extends to around 1m. It can be used with most cameras and smartphones and includes a standard tripod thread and a clip to secure most smartphones, including the iPhone 3, 4 and 5, in place. An optional connector is available for smartphones larger than 2.7 inches, including the Samsung Galaxy S4/5, Note 2/3 and other wide devices.
A universal ballhead lets you position the camera at almost any angle. The monopod can be purchased separately or bundled with the iStabilizer Shutter Remote which lets you lets you fire the shutter of any connected iOS device (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch) from up to 10.5 metres away. The remote uses Bluetooth 3.0 and measures 3.5 x 9cm. An Android version of the remote is expected soon.
