Instagram could soon let you link a credit card and make purchases

More changes are coming to Instagram, with the facebook-owned company confirming to TechCrunch they will add the ability to add credit card details and make payments on the app, something that could be an interesting proposition for photographers selling work.

According to TechCrunch, the new functionality allows users to register a debit or credit card as part of a profile, set up a security pin, then start buying things without ever leaving Instagram. 

It appears the functionality so far has been made available just to a select few users in the US. TechCrunch say a tap through to the terms of service reveals that Instagram Payments are backed by Facebook’s Payments rules.

For photographers, the implementation of payments could be a slick way to sell prints or book photography services with a few swipes.
