The trailer for Steven Soderbergh's new film shot entirely on iPhone has been released.

The unsane, starring Claire Foy (The Crown) is due to hit cinemas on March 23. The thriller follows Foy's character who leaves town in order to escape a stalker. However in seeking help she unwittingly finds herself committed to a mental health facility.

In an interview with Indiewire, Soderbergh, who’s known for films such as Erin BrockovichTraffic, and Ocean’s Eleven, said he thought this was the future. “Anybody going to see this movie who has no idea of the backstory to the production will have no idea this was shot on the phone. That’s not part of the conceit."

“People forget, this is a 4k capture. I’ve seen it 40 feet tall. It looks like velvet. This is a gamechanger to me.”

Soderbergh said he decided on shooting with an iPhone because he was impressed with the cinematography, and that he is likely to continue shooting with one in the future.
