The Ballarat International Foto Biennale (BIFB) 2019 is calling for applications to join a unique development program for curators and photographers.

The In Focus Curators Forum will be held over four days from 26-29 August 2019 in Ballarat where 15 emerging and mid-career curators and photographers, selected from an international open callout, will participate in workshops, discussions and cultural exchanges focused on photographic curation.

The 15 selected curators will each receive travel and transfers to and from Ballarat; five nights accommodation; a per diem allowance; invitations to all VIP openings and professional development.

Participants will also be eligible for the BIFB + The Ian Potter Foundation curator awards which will give two curators a 12-month mentorship program including a paid overseas internship, travel and accommodation expenses and curatorial training with leading institutions. The mentorships will culminate with curated exhibitions for the 2021 BIFB. One award winner will travel to Fotographie Forum Frankfurt, Germany, to work alongside Artistic Director Celina Lunsford. The other overseas mentorship is yet to be announced.

Applications close 30 June 2019.
