Sydney's Black Eye Gallery is set to host an exhibition of works by renowned architectural photographer Tom Blachford.

The Midnight Modern series was created over three years and features surreal images of the modernist architecture of California's Palm Springs.

Blachford's Midnight Modern photographic series was featured at the Black Eye Gallery last year and this month culminates with the launch of a publication and images from all three series.

All images were shot entirely by the light of the full moon and described as adding a "new dimension to the famous mecca of desert modernism and shows a contrasting side of a town famous for its sunshine, cocktails, and hedonism".

To shoot his images, Blachford was able to gain access to architectural gems such as Kaufmann Desert House and Frank Sinatra's Twin Palms House. The result is a collection of stunning surrealistic images which can be viewed from April 18-30 at the Black Eye Gallery, 3/138 Darlinghurst Rd, Darlinghurst.
