Winners of the ACMP Student Photographer of the Year awards have been announced. Now in its second year, the awards offer photographers at the beginning of the careers valuable exposure and a chance to share in $9000 worth of prizes.

Prizes are awarded in six main categories: commercial, fashion, advertising, architecture, portraiture and documentary. An additional prize is awarded to the best college.

The 2012 ACMP Student Photographers of the Year are: Ona Janzen (Commercial), Emma Shephard (Fashion), Kim Preston (Advertising), William Kalengkongan (Architecture), Astrid Piepschyk (Portraiture), Matthew Taylor (Documentary). The award for best college went to Photography Studies College in Melbourne, while Queensland College of Art in Brisbane was runner up.
