At some point you’re going to realise it’s pointless wandering around with a camera hoping a good picture will leap out at you and scream “take me, take me!”. They generally don’t. There’s an element of luck in photography, but like most things it’s got more to do with practise and persistence. That said, a few good tips when you’re starting out can save you a lot of mucking around. We have 51 of them.

The aim of this article is to give you a few things to accelerate your development as you hone your technique and find your own style. 

It isn’t a checklist. It is a mix of technical and creative ideas that will hopefully get you thinking about the way you currently work. That alone should get you achieving better photography...
