Tamron has announced the upcoming release of two new lenses  – a 150-600mm lens for Canon and Nikon bodies and a 90mm f/2.8 for the Sony Alpha system.

The SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC 6.3 Di VC USD G2 builds on Tamron's original SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD (Model A011), which launched in December 2013, with improved autofocus and image stabilisation (vibration compensation). Also, several new features have been added including a Flex Zoom Lock mechanism, metal lens barrel, a flourine coating on the front element to repel water and fingerprints, and optional 1.4x and 2x tele converters to further increase the reach of the lens. The new 150-600mm lens will be available in the first week of October with an expected retail price of $2199.

The SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 USD is designed for the Sony A-mount range and includes one low dispersion (LD) glass  and two extra low dispersion (XLD) elements that compensate for chromatic aberrations from macro shooting range to infinity. As well as being well suited to portraiture, the lens also offers macro shooting down to a ratio of 1:1. Other features include moisture- and dust-proof construction, a flourine coating on the front element, and circular aperture blades to achieve rounded bokeh effects. The lens is available now and retails for $1269.

Tamron has also announced a new device that lets users update firmware on Tamron lenses designed for the Sony A-mount system. Previously, firmware updates could be performed only at a Tamron Customer Service Center. Using the new Tamron Tap-in Console, and an internet connection, customers can access a dedicated website and update firmware themselves anytime, anywhere. In addition, selected lenses can be customised by changing settings, including focus, to match user preferences. The Tap-in Console is available now.
