Samyang adds 14/2.8 FE prime to autofocus line-up

Korean lens maker Samyang has announced the launch of its fifth new lens in as many weeks.

The other recent additions to Samyang's line-up include: a 50mm f/1.4 lens with autofocus for Sony E-mount, two new 35mm manual primes for APS-C mirrorless cameras, and a manual full-frame 20mm f/1.8 prime.

The Samyang AF 14/2.8 FE is also an autofocus-equipped lens designed for the Sony E-mount. According to Samyang, this optic is the "widest angle available in the market in its class", with a field of view covering a whopping 113.9 degrees on a full-frame E-mount body, or 89.8 degrees on an APS-C body.

The AF 14/2.8 FE lens features 14 elements in 10 groups, including three aspheric lenses and two using extra-low dispersion glass. Thanks to a seven-bladed circular aperture, photographers can expect attractive bokeh from the lens which also boasts Samyang's Ultra Multi Coating to resist flare and ghosting.

Maximum magnification is 0.12x and minimum focus distance is only 20cm.

The AF 14/2.8 FE has a metal body which measures 98mm in length and 86mm in diameter with weight of 505g.

Samyang's latest lens is expected to be availabile this September. At this stage only European pricing of around €700 is available.
