Daguerreotype Achromat Aguerreotype lens released

Comments Comments

Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, the Daguerreotype Achromat Aguerreotype 2.9/64 Art lens is now available for purchase.

According to the manufacturer the lens revives an optical design of 1839 by Daguerre and Chevalier when an Achromat lens was first attached to a Daguerreotype camera. When fitted to modern cameras the Daguerreotype lens is said to offer crisp sharpness, silky soft focus, and impressive bokeh control.

The Daguerreotype Achromat Aguerreotype 2.9/64 Art lens was designed and handcrafted in a small factory and is available in black and brass finish and suitable for both digital and analogue cameras.

Photographers and videographers using the 64mm focal length lens can expect to create a variety of moods and special effects depending on aperture setting: silky soft focus at f/2.9, crisp sharp shots from f/5.6 onwards.

The Daguerreotype Achromat Lens works via a Waterhouse Aperture Plate system, which allows full creativity with depth of field and bokeh effects. As well as classic Waterhouse Aperture plates, Lomography has created two new sets for the lens. The Lumière aperture plates are designed to soak images in a radiant, soft glow while the Aquarelle aperture plates blend colors to produce a textured, painterly effect.

The Daguerreotype Achromat 2.9/64 Art Lens is available in Canon EF, Nikon F and Pentax K mounts, and compatible with a variety of other cameras using adapter mounts, such as the Sony Alpha series, Fuji X-Pro 1 and micro four/thirds cameras.
