Western Digital has announced the release of its My Passport Pro and My Cloud Pro Series network attached storage (NAS) systems.

Western Digital says the WD Pro Series enables fast and seamless transfer of content between devices, whether in a studio or on remote location using the latest My Cloud mobile app, which is compatible with the Adobe Creative Cloud. My Passport Wireless Pro and My Cloud Pro Series devices are also compatible with the Plex Media Server and My Cloud OS 3 software.

The My Passport Wireless Pro Wi-Fi mobile storage uses direct Wi-Fi connection for automatic backup of files from compatible cameras, as well as saving and transferring to up to eight other devices. Tethered connections are also available for faster transfers and include a built-in SD card reader as well as a USB 2.0 port.

Available in capacities up to 3TB, the My Passport Wireless Pro device also features up to 10 hours of battery life and a built-in battery pack that can be used to charge phones, cameras and other devices.

For later editing or studio work, the My Cloud Pro Series NAS devices offer up to 32TB of storage, with the devices optimised to import from cameras/memory card readers and other USB storage with a one-touch backup button. The system’s fast, high capacity drive features a hardware accelerated video processor to aid working and streaming with popular content formats, including 4K video.

The My Passport Wireless Pro Wi-Fi is available from August 15; 2TB capacity version sells for $389 RRP, 3TB $449 RRP. The My Cloud Pro Series will be available from August 1 with pricing starting from $849.99 depending on capacity requirements.
