Manfrotto expands pod range

Photographic accessories maker Manfrotto has introduced a new series of monopods called XPRO Monopod+ and a new FluidTech Base that looks ideally suited to videographers for performing smooth panning and tilting manoeuvres.

According to the maker these new supports offer easy, instant locking and adjustment via a Quick Power Lock system.

The new Monopod+ models come in a choice of four or five sections, with legs made of aluminum or carbon fibre and kits are available with and without heads. Manfrotto's Monopod+ are the same as the existing XPRO models but also come with the FluidTech base included.

The new base is slightly larger than its predecessor and also offers three-way motion instead of solely providing panning support. The rotation can be locked off to allow only panning or unlocked to support smooth action in three different directions.

The base attaches and detaches by screwing it to the foot of the monopod, and while the base will hold the monopod upright on its own Manfrotto doesn’t suggest using it self-standing with a camera attached.

US pricing currently only available - The new FluidTech Base will be $99.99 USD and the kits including a monopod will start at $189.99 USD.
