400 million photos anyone? Seagate announces world's highest capacity solid state drive

Seagate has announced a 60TB solid-state-drive (SSD), making it the largest capacity SSD available. Seagate say the driver has four times the capacity and twice the density of the next largest competing unit and could store approximately 12,000 DVD-quality movies or a mindblowing 400 million photos.

Seagate's new SSD.

Seagate say the new drive is ideal for large storage arrays, active archives and read-intensive environments. Unfortunately the Seagate 60TB SSD is currently only available for demonstration purposes. Seagate has not given any information on pricing, but says the drive will represent the lowest current cost per GB for flash memory once it becomes available sometime in 2017.
