Hi Adam,

I love misty landscape images. Like any landscape image though, they can be a real challenge to capture. The mist creates the mood, yet ultimately you still need to pull together the perfect design elements in the frame.

I have two concerns with the image. First, the brush on the left side of the image is too scraggly for my liking, and too close to the camera. Its presence is not only solid, but it is a distraction to the other trees in the background.

My second concern is the apparent lean the image has; everything seems to be falling to the right. This does not have to be a problem for you; if you find the right composition, there is nothing to stop you letting everything appear to be leaning one direction or another, but it all has to be in balance.

If you get the chance to revisit this area, or you find yourself in a similar situation I would do everything that you have done here, but I would be looking to try and make the composition stronger. You can do this several ways; one might be to simply zoom in a little and try to include less in the frame; this image would be so much stronger if you had zoomed just a little to eliminate the foreground

Alternatively, this image might also work well as a panorama. As always, you can create hard and fast rules on any situation, and you can only ever respond to the environment you find on the day.

Hope this is a help!

Cheers,

Anthony
