Image doctor's advice
Hi Dianne,
One of the great secrets of photography is to keep people thinking, and guessing.
I was at a conference in Wellington (NZ) many years ago and a world renowned photographer was giving a lecture on his work. One of the photographs that he showed was of an electric car he had photographed for an American advertising campaign. What was unusual about this photograph was that it showed a reflection of the car in a puddle presented upside down. (See below). Quite a few photographers in the room could not understand what they were seeing! That is what is called keeping people guessing.
Now with your photo here, I think it is a nice idea but I think you need to start getting away from the ordinary and start getting people guessing.
If I was you I would buy some red or orange papers, or even get some off-cuts of wallpaper and then I would start looking at suspending the flowers into the paper so that they appear to be floating. Then I would look for the unusual angles.
Hope this gets you started
on a new direction. Your colour sense is good… now work on the design.
Cheers,
Anthony.
