German lens and camera manufacturer Zeiss has announced the newest addition to their storied (and eye-wateringly expensive) Otus lens lineup, with the announcement this week of the 1.4/100, or 100mm f/1.4, lens.

Designed for full-frame Canon and Nikon cameras, the new lens joins the existing Otus 28mm, 55mm, and 85mm manual focus models and features a full-metal housing and the company's T* anti-reflective coating.

The Otus 100mm lens features 14 elements in 11 groups and an 86mm filter diameter.

And the price? In Europe it will set you back 4,500 Euros (incl. German VAT), although that does include a lens shade and protective caps for the front and back lenses.

The 1.4/100 should be available now. You can find out more at Zeiss
