Olympus has announced the Olympus Tough TG-6 compact digital camera, the latest model in the Tough series of cameras designed to withstand harsh conditions.

The successor to the TG-5, the TG-6 is waterproof to a depth of 15 metres, dustproof, shockproof to 2.1 metres, crushproof to 100 kg, freezeproof to -10°C, and features a dual-pane protective glass construction to improve anti-fogging performance.

The TG-6 gets the same f/2.0 zoom lens and back-lit CMOS sensor as it's predecessor, but adds a 1.04 million dot high-definition rear LCD monitor. It also inherits the TruePic VIII processor from the Olympus OM-D E-M1X, which Olympus says will help reduce noise levels and improve resolution in low contrast areas.

The camera also has a Microscope Mode that can focus on subjects as close as 1cm from the front of the lens, an automatic focus stacking mode and focus bracketing mode.

Additionally, a new fisheye converter lens that supports circular fisheye photography has been added to a full line-up of other accessories.

The Tough TG-6 will be available from early July 2019 with an RRP of $649 AUD. You can find out more at Olympus.
