First three lenses announced for Panasonic's new full-frame mirrorless camera system

Comments Comments

Panasonic has announced the first three lenses for the company's upcoming S1R and S1 full-frame mirrorless cameras.

The lenses are the LUMIX S PRO 50mm F1.4, S PRO 70-200mm F4 O.I.S and S 24-105mm F4 MACRO O.I.S.

No images of the lenses are available yet, but we do have some information courtesy of Panasonic.

LUMIX S PRO 50mm F1.4

The LUMIX S PRO 50mm F1.4 features 13 lenses in 11 groups, with the use of 2 aspherical lenses and 3 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses effectively suppressing both axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration of magnification, as well as correcting astigmatism.

A double focus system combining a linear motor and stepping motor to achieve a sensor drive at a maximum speed of 480 fps. A focus clutch mechanism enables instant AF/MF switching and accurate manual focusing. The lens also features a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing.

The filter diameter of the lens is 77mm, with an 11- blade circular aperture diaphragm.

LUMIX S PRO 70-200mm F4 O.I.S

The LUMIX S PRO 70-200mm F4 O.I.S comprises 23 lenses in 17 groups, and features an aspherical lens and 3 ED (Extralow Dispersion) lenses to suppress both axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration of magnification, and the lens features a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing.

A linear motor achieves sensor drive at a maximum speed of 480 fps for fast auto focusing, while a focus clutch mechanism enables instant AF/MF switching and manual focusing. The filter diameter is 77mm, with a 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm.

LUMIX S 24-105mm F4 MACRO O.I.S.

The LUMIX S 24-105mm F4 MACRO O.I.S. comprises 16 lenses in 13 groups, and the use of 2 aspherical lenses and 2 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses should suppress chromatic aberration. The lens supports 0.5x macro shooting with a minimum focusing distance of 0.3m. Like the other two lenses, it includes a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing.

The filter diameter is 77mm, with a 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm.
